The Housing Authority mission is to provide safe, decent and affordable public housing to persons and families with limited financial resources and to provide residents with access to programs, which will assist them in making the transition to greater financial security.
Public Housing (PH) in the County is administered by the Housing Authority. Public Housing was established to provide decent & safe rental housing for eligible low & moderate income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types from scattered duplex and quad apartments to high-rise apartments for elderly families. These units are owned and operated by the Housing Authority. Rent in these units is set for each family based on their anticipated annual adjusted income.
The Housing Authority prides itself on the quality housing that it provides. They implement comprehensive plans to improve the physical conditions of our units and to expand the number of affordable housing units. We provide service to our clients which exceed their expectations and assist them in developing means to move up and out of assisted housing. Family units are dispersed throughout the County which makes the residents feel like a part of the community, and not targeted as low-income households.
